Every signer must physically appear and is required to show a valid (un-expired) government-issued ID, which includes a photo, signature and physical description of the holder; and includes an identifying number at the time of notarization.
A valid non-expired drivers license or non-drivers identification card issued by any U.S. state or territory or Mexico or Canada.
A valid U.S. Passport issued by the U.S. Department of State.
A valid U.S. Military ID.
A foreign Passport stamped by the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration (USCIS).
An identification card issued by the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration (USCIS), the most common is the Permanent Resident ID.
An inmate identification card issued on or after January 1, 1991, by North Carolina Department of Corrections or Federal Bureau of Prisons (only to identify prisoners in custody).
A sworn, written statement from a sworn law enforcement officer explaining that an inmate's IDs were confiscated upon incarceration, and that the person named in the document is the person whose signature is to be notarized.
